   Can I conduct my credit union business?

Yes. You can still conduct all of your ALEC transactions from the comfort of your home, car, over the phone or in-person. ALEC will continue to maintain operations with all service capabilities, including the ability to deposit funds, withdraw cash, apply for a loan or credit card, open a new account and more.
 
You can complete your transactions in the following ways:

  • Interactive Drive-Thru Teller Services (ITMs) at Gurnee headquarters

   Can I use the Service Centers?

Yes. For the health of our members and employees, ALEC has temporarily modified lobby hours at our Service Centers. Current federal, state and local health agencies have extended social distancing guidelines due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) through April 30th. We will continue to monitor the situation and will communicate with you regarding any changes. As always, you can conduct your credit union business via ALEC Online Banking, the ALEC Mobile App, Mobile Deposit, ALEC ATMs, over 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs and our 24/7 Contact Center.

If your ALEC Visa Credit card is lost or stolen, call 800.449.7728 to report it immediately. Your card will then be blocked from any future fraudulent transactions.
 
If your ALEC Debit card is lost or stolen, call 800.472.3272 to report it immediately. Your card will then be blocked from any future fraudulent transactions.

   What is ALEC doing to protect members and employees?

 ALEC is taking several proactive steps to protect the health and safety of our members and employees. 
  • We have increased our supplies of hand sanitizer. In the event you visit the AP6, AP30 and AP52 Service Centers, we have hand sanitizer available for your use.
  • For locations that have modified hours, including our Gurnee, AP6, AP30 and AP52 locations, we are wiping down all ATMs, ITMs and high-touch areas on a regular basis.
  • For locations that are currently closed or without ALEC staff, we suggest wearing gloves or using hand sanitizer every time you use an ALEC ATM or ITM. If you elect to use gloves, please turn them inside out before discarding them. For more information, please visit the Centers for Disease Control website.
  •  We have either cancelled or rescheduled all in-person ALEC educational events as webinars until May 1st. Please see the ALEC Educational Events page here for the most updated schedule.
  • We have suspended all business travel for our employees until April 30th. This suspension is to protect the safety of not only our employees, but our members.
  • We have required all employees traveling outside of IL or WI to notify our management team in advance.
  • We are diligently monitoring the health of our employees and will send employees home who are feeling ill.

   How do I avoid Coronavirus financial scams?

Please be aware of fraudulent Coronavirus scams that wish to steal your sensitive and personal account information. Watch our for odd telephone caller IDs, emails, texts or websites that look like real companies and ask for critical information such as SSN, account numbers, login username and password information, credit or debit card numbers and PIN numbers, For additional on how to avoid Coronavirus financial scams, please click here
 

   How will ALEC support me if I need financial assistance?

ALEC is taking proactive steps to assist members facing a financial hardship as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
  • ALEC will work with members seeking potential relief on loans. If you have any questions regarding loan payment deferrals, please contact us 24/7 at 800.762.9988.

ALEC is also offering a Hardship Relief Loan for members who have been impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Hardship Relief Loan features:

  • Fixed rate of 3.99% APR*
  • Terms from 12 to 36 months
  • Maximum loan amount of $5,000
  • 90-day first payment deferral

*APR = Annual Percentage Rate. Must be a current ALEC member in good standing with no charge-offs or delinquent loans as of March 1, 2020 or eligible for membership for offer. Terms of loan from 12 to 36 months. Maximum loan amount of $5,000. Not eligible for any additional loan discounts. Not eligible to refinance existing ALEC loans.    Are my ALEC accounts insured?

Rest assured, ALEC has been and continues to be a strong financial institution and your funds are secure. All ALEC accounts are insured up to $250,000 each by American Share Insurance (ASI). This means that American Share insures each and every account of an individual member up to $250,000 no matter how many accounts you hold.  In addition, as a result of the passage of the CARES Act, all non-interest bearing transaction accounts are fully insured without limits through at least December 31, 2020. For more information about American Share Insurance (ASI), please click here.
